Just got my gymnasticbodies rings from Coach Sommer today. Still need to set them up and play.
I'll see about posting my final thoughts on them afterwards. |

I managed to make it to CF Sac and try out their Powermax and Elite rings to have them fresh in memory upon a comparison. I can remember my experience with the Rogue rings fairly well from the CrossFit Games.
I am definitely digging them now, and wishing I could hang them from something higher so the straps were longer. Well, that and I wish I could have multiples set up so I wouldn't have to adjust them or have more of my friends on them. Honestly though, very few of my friends would get on them.
Sommer's rings have a nice texture on the entire set of rings. I noticed on Tyler's Elite rings, there is a small band with a slight texture that I don't ever remember before. I am not as against the PowerMax rings after I used a different set there as I was never too thrilled with the ones they have hanging from the rafters. This is also because they are hung from a single buckle so they are not shoulder width apart. It's just weird. Powermax's texture is nice and possible more aggressive but spaced out more than the Sommer's rings.
Buckles are buckles. They really don't differentiate here from each other. Black on black is pretty cool. If I had multiple set up in a boy's area or gym, I might like a few different just to have multiple colors set up. White powermax's, clear Tyler's, gold and black Sommer's.
I think I might have to dump the entire Drillsandskills video library to my Ipod so I could look up and show video per a skill whenever. Even easier than on a laptop, though the viewscreen isn't as big unfortunately. It really would be handy when coaching so I don't have to set up the video camera to tv. Quick and fast like video on a digital camera. |
