Totally made that up by myself when my friend was telling me that softball was harder than gymnastics!!! I don't do rythmic stuff, I don't like hula hoops! haha. I apologize, that wasn't very nice. Haha _________________ Gymnastics doesn't USE balls, it TAKES balls! |

Wow I am so impressed my topic gained a response like this!
Yes I am a kiwi and I am a judge of levels 1 - 3. I have seen 13 year olds competing in level three with the 7 year olds so understand it is no big deal in our country.
The girls in my team are 9,11 and 13 so our team now varies a lot in age.
The point of my post was to gain suggestions on how to improve strength. I am a female so am finding a lot of the conditioning suggestions on the site very challenging, so will take them down a peg.
Also, I am 21 however I have been training without a coach for two hours a week at an adult gymn class in palmerston north for a year, before that nothing much since I was 14.
I do not think I will have a huge advantage at all. my floor and vault are at level 5 standard but my bar and beam are pretty horrific - no kips, flyaways etc.
And for those who asked:
Toe taps - like an L hang on bar except you lift the legs to the bar and then lower to 'L'
Russians - lift the legs ups four inches and lower 10 times, then the shoulders 10 times, then lift both together. This is done on the back, tummy and both sides. |

| Being older doesn't confer any advantage at all, especially in a skill based system. If you can perform, you can perform. If you are vastly better than them, you should be moved up another level. That's all there is to it IMHO. |

You're right, IMHO... many adults are about as advanced as elementary school children. _________________ "If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten." |
