|
|
There seem to be two different methods of front giants and I'm wondering which technique to pursue (this is for women's bars):
1)After passing through the bottom, pulling down on the bar, breaking shoulder angle and maybe even piking/planching a bit (or straddle) to reach the handstand.
2)tapping just like regular giants, but backward- i.e., after passing through the bottom, drive the heels all the way until the handstand is reached.
Any preference? I'm inclined toward #2.
Also, any tips for wrist-shift? A couple of girls are having fear issues on peeling off the bar. I've just never really thought about it, myself. Front giants always seemed less scary than back giants, from what I can remember; but maybe that's because I was on the men's bar? |

The first technique (like a press handstand mechanic) is a little easier to accomplish with clean form, the second technique develops a strong heel tap which can lead to front giant release moves and dismounts. _________________ TipGuy
