Miri,
I'd sure consider such an opportunity (coaching adults). That could be a lot of fun. I would suggest that theory (swing mechanics, gym physics, etc.) be a big part of this camp experience. Adult learners by and large want to know WHY(!) and can't handle the volume of trial and error work that kids can. Low numbers and lots of video cameras and opportuntity to review/critique would be of incredible value too.
I'm in... a bit rusty... but in if you can pull this off. How can I help?

| That's a great idea! Perhaps a long 3-day weekend with a few coaches. |

| I am so excited that I found this forum...I did gymnastics for a very long time as a child, and a few years ago became involved in an adult gymnastics class in Chicago, where I met some great gymnastics friends. I know that there are at least four of us who would be very interested if someone started an adult camp! We are ages 25-28. About 3-4 days at "camp" sounds like the perfect amount of time. Please let me know if anyone decides to put this idea into action because we would LOVE to do something like that. Thanks!!! |

Lakeshore Academy - it's near the West Loop area, just off Chicago Ave. near the intersection of Chicago & Halsted.
The website is www.lakeshoreacademy.com
I don't live there anymore so I'm no longer going there but the 3 friends I mentioned in my previous post all still go there. I really enjoyed the classes there. There is a large range of age & skill levels and everyone is very accepting and encouraging no matter how advanced or beginner you are!
Additionally, Dianne Durham's gym, Skyline Gymnastics, also has adult classes. I don't believe they have a website but you can look up the gym name to find the phone number and address. |

we've got one coach (thanks) and a few interested gymnasts. I guess what we need is a place to practice maybe another coach and some planing, price, advertizing, etc... I am really busy right now but in a month or so I could try to call place that already have adult gymnastics classes (they should be fine with insurance stuff) and I guess we could see from there.
Keep posting messages if you are interested in such a camp, I personally think that on top of improving in gymnastics we would have a lots of fun. |

| Great idea! I am a coach, but used to do gymnastics and am trying to get back into it as much as possible, after recovering from knee surgery, but its hard to motivate myself when I'm in the gym alone. I dont know if there is some way I could do both coaching and gymnastics. I would mostly prefer do attend the camp, but if you're having trouble finding coaches and thats the only thing thats keeping this from happening, I would be more than willing to coach. |

| Gingpipe, where are you located? I know it is very difficult to go it alone. Maybe you could recruit some other former gymnasts to tarin with you? it is so motivating even having one other person doing with you! |

| I'm in southern Vermont, and unfortunately cannot find anyone that wants to workout with me, but not for lack of trying. I have friends of mine that come in and bounce around and play, but no one that really wants to learn new skills, as I do, after first regaining old ones. But I really want to do this, and would like to compete in NAIGC meets when I go to med. school next year so I'll have to motivate myself somehow. |
