Thank you Coach Blair, but what exactly is L5? What do the skills fall under(D skills and up?)
I do like gymnastics but I can never catch it on the TV, so I'm a bit new to all the rules and techniques.
When does the season open/close? Does anyone know of a site that posts partial/full videos of contests? |

Level 5 is basically the 2nd level of the competitional gymnastics program for Junior Olympics under the USAG. Level 4 is sometimes competed and levels under sometimes in small in house competitions, nothing that is official. L4 is considered rec competitive.
The skills are mostly A's. Some kips, a front hip circle, RO-BH-BH, dive roll, front handspring on floor, back walkover, handstand on beam, side handstand on beam, cartwheel on beam, handspring over the fault, and some turns. That's basically it.
D's and up would be L10/Elite.
Compulsories compete in the fall and optionals in the spring ( as far as women go, men compete in spring ). TOPS is in spring and summer, I think.
You may be able to find some stuff on youtube or http://www.wcsn.com/sport/index.jsp?id=34012.
Wasn't there a gymnastics blog. tv
